Spectrum hires new chief of research, education

Anthony Senagore will be leading Spectrum Health System's research as the new vice president of research and medical education.

Senagore, formerly the professor and chairman of the department of surgery at Medical University of Ohio, will focus on expanding and enhancing the research and medical education programs at Spectrum Health.

In addition, he will work to strengthen Spectrum Health’s relationships with various research partners, including Michigan State University, Grand Valley State University and the Van Andel Institute.

Spectrum is one of the partners seeking to create a Michigan State sponsored, West Michigan medical school.

Senagore earned his medical degree from Michigan State University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Wayne State University and another in human medicine from Michigan State University.

Spectrum Health is a not-for-profit health system in West Michigan with seven hospitals, more than 140 service sites and a 460,000-member health plan.
