The total number of high skilled technology workers in Michigan ranks 10th in the nation, according to a recent survey by AeA, the nation's largest technology trade association.
Despite losing approximately 5,200 tech jobs in 2004, the state continues to employ some 178,000 tech workers in two primary sectors: 1) research, development and testing labs and 2) engineering services.
"
Michigan has thousands of highly skilled and talented individuals in the tech industry, helping to keep the
Great Lakes State an attractive location for the business of technology," Ed Loganecker, executive director of the AeA Midwest Council, told the Grand Rapids Business Journal.
Michigan companies also invested $16.9 billion in technology research and development. That figure ranks second nationally.
