Grand Rapids is home to a growing life sciences industry that many local economists believe will be the “new economy” of West Michigan, providing jobs, services, and attracting more bio sciences businesses. The West Michigan Science and Technology Initiative (WMSTI) has devised a way to help start-up life sciences companies get the help they need to succeed in business.
The Virtual Company is composed of service businesses who will provide pro bono financial, marketing, and other services to the young companies—services they need but aren’t able to afford.
"They're extremely small companies. They're not experienced in this type of thing and they need that type of support," said Rich Cook, director of the WMSTI’s business incubator Venture Center.
