Wandering site shows West Michigan's best

A new Web site dedicated to documenting what West Michigan has to offer recently launched as a weekly video blog.

Josh Leo, the creator of Wandering West Michigan, is a Calvin College graduate who works as a radio producer for Words of Hope. He began video blogging in early 2005.

“I used to text blog, but found a knack for video at the start of 2005. I got a real positive response to the videos I was making and decided to continue with it,” says Leo, who has won awards and been featured in national and international press for various “vlogging” (as it is sometimes known as) ventures.

Early on, he began posting videos dedicated to his surroundings.

“I found that people from Michigan, as well as people from all over the world, liked these videos,” says Leo. I have lived in West Michigan for the past five years and have slowly fallen in love with the area. I made it my goal to show people who both live here and live afar what West Michigan has to offer. I see it as a community service, an archival service, and a way for me to learn more about an area that continues to surprise me.”

Leo says that he hopes the site will be updated on a weekly basis, and plans to post “about all the things that make Michigan unique.”

Currently a solo project, Leo says that he hopes he can expand his operations and possibly locate sponsors to make it a sustainable venture.
