An important and growing sector of West Michigan's knowledge-based economy will be on public display next month when more than 40 local companies and their ideas will be on display at the 2007 Life Sciences Business Showcase, according to a recent report in MiBiz.
"We want to show off what is happening in our life sciences community," Matt Dugener, executive director of the West Michigan Science and Technology Initiative, told MiBiz. "So many peopl think that life science is all about magic pills and magic liquids. It's really about normal products that we use everday.
The WMSTI, established in 2003, is a partnership of universities, private institutions, and economic development officials organized to help science and technology entrepreneurs commercialize creative ideas. Partners include Van Andel Institute, City of Grand Rapids, Grand Valley State University, and the Right Place, Inc.
