Westshore Consulting has opened a satellite office at 234 Washington Street in Grand Haven, with plans to create three new jobs within the next year. The Muskegon-based company has a third office in Manistee and 30 employees corporate-wide.
"We think Grand Haven's a good market," says CEO Dennis Dunlap. "To have a real presence there we need to have an office there and be involved in the community."
The 25-year-old company offers services that support three primary disciplines: civil engineering, land surveying, and environmental science. Within those disciplines the services offered include due diligence for real estate transactions, Brownfield consulting, environmental investigating, and hydrogeologic investigating for both residential and commercial clients.
"We do microgravity work for oil and gas companies to determine places to drill for oil or gas," Dunlap says. "We also put documentation together for clients to get a permit to put down a well or erect or a storage facility."
Westshore has worked on a number of developments along the lakeshore, including, Catalina Shores in Fruitport and Sandalwood Shores in Norton Shores, as well as a couple of projects for the City of Grand Haven.
Dunlap says the Grand Haven jobs will most likely be positions for CAD operators, surveyors, engineers, or environmental scientists. Although he hasn't determined a pay scale, he said the positions will pay well.
