State’s new website streamlines business startups

Michigan.gov added website tools this month to help new businesses. The new services, launched by the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth, include online applications for various permits and grants.

The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth (DLEG) unveiled new online services July 6 that are intended to make it easier to start up a business, obtain a permit, apply for a grant or do other business with the state.

The new enhanced services, available at www.michigan.gov/cis by clicking on the Online Services link, join the already running Michigan Timely Application Permit Service (MiTAPS), which reduces permitting time by streamlining the process.

DLEG Director Robert Swanson told MiBiz that the combination of those services makes Michigan one of the most advanced states in the nation for reducing red tape through technology.
