MSU medical school expands partnerships city-wide
The MSU College of Human Medicine is looking to more than one hospital in the Grand Rapids healthcare corridor to provide training sites for students, shared faculty, staff, and patients for research, and additional funding.
According to excerpts from the story:
Michigan State University is about to secure another partner in its quest to expand its medical school to Grand Rapids by fall 2008.
University officials expected to sign an agreement today with Saint Mary’s Health Care, another step toward basing the medical school in Grand Rapids in a $70 million building expected to open in 2010.
The agreement calls for Saint Mary’s to spend $10 million over seven years to recruit and share staff for the hospital’s neural science program; to provide training sites for students; and to share faculty, staff and patients for research.
At 200 Jefferson St. SE, Saint Mary’s is just under a mile south of the anticipated Michigan Street location for the school.
