At 391 feet, River House set to become state’s tallest residential building

Condo buyers are no longer just the empty nest crowd. With one-quarter of the buyers in the 18 to 30 age group, and over one-half of its units sold, River House is on the rise.

A lot of skeptics in Grand Rapids real estate doubted River House condominiums would ever get off the ground. In a few days, they’ll be proven wrong.

Robert Grooters Development Co. waited 15 years to marry Bridgewater Place, the towering blue edifice highly recognizable in the Grand Rapids skyline. In July 2008, the office building will meet its $80 million bride, which will become the tallest residential building in the state at 391 feet and the tallest building in Grand Rapids.

“We’re selling the view,” said project manager Dan Wert, from inside the lobby of Bridgewater. Outside River House’s sales office there, construction crews crawl over the dirt hole now accepting huge concrete caissons and steel reinforcement.
