Here in Kent County the Literacy Center of West Michigan is working to eliminate barriers to achieving literacy. Recently, the center was awarded a MI Impact Grant of $1.12 million dollars from the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) to further their work.

KDL collaborates with AARP on topical learning programs for seniors

Kent District Library is joining with AARP on “Learn a Latte,” sessions that feature experts explaining artificial intelligence, elections, and prescription medications. The program is one of several ways KDL serves older adults.

Small businesses have huge resource in local library, chamber, and partnering organizations

It can be costly to run a small business, but the amount of resources that the Kent District Library and its partners, including the Grand Rapids Chamber, and Kent Intermediate School District are invaluable. Entrepreneurs and small businesses have a large resource with access to technology, tools, data, and training.
