Taste of Grand Rapids: Giddy Up, It’s Tasty Time!
Each year in July, people race down to John Ball Park. And after a very filling day at the Taste of Grand Rapids, people ease on down the road a bit slower in a food coma. (This is one time when overeating is encouraged.)
Local restaurants participating this year include Grand Traverse Pie Co., Fred’s Italian Restaurant, GoJo Ethiopian Cuisine, Chez Olga, Wing Heaven, Jamaican Dave’s, The Corner Bar, XO Asian Cuisine and 17 more popular eateries.
Two very popular spots this year will include the hands down local favorite Sandmann’s and newcomer Blue Smoke BBQ. Both will have huge lines because they are worth it.
New this year is Barefoot Wines, who will be on hand to help you answer questions about what wines are best paired with which entrees. And of course, there will be a beer tent for those 21 years of age and older.
Last year more than 25,000 came down to sample the best of Grand Rapids, and were also were able to partake in being a part of the annual State of Michigan Barbecue Championship where the winner will go on to the Kansas City championship.
Vegans beware, but there is nothing that says summer is here than the smell of ribs comingling in the air with the sweet aroma of BBQ sauce.
Friday’s entertainment, hosted by 101.3 FM The FOX, will feature a mix of rock ‘n roll styles with out-of-town acts and local entertainment including Deadwood Stone and AB! & Coconut Brown.
Saturday is family day, hosted by STAR 105.7 and B-93, and will have Nashville artists James Wesley and Bradley Gaskin on the stage along with local country favorites Small Town Sons and the Shelagh Brown Band.
