You ever wonder how much this area has gone to the dogs?
Well, if you answered nearly $1 million, then you are correct. In the last nine years, Blocktail has raised nearly $1 million, which has in turn been awarded to animal welfare programs in our area.
And if this year's ticket sales hold, which are already double what they were last year at this time, then we can expect Blocktail to far surpass the 700 people attending (many with their dogs).
Cathy Bissell of the Bissell Pet Foundation was ecstatic last year when Blocktail raised a quarter of a million dollars at this festive event, which includes hand passed food plus something for our four legged friends, "yappetizers" -- also hand passed and specially crafted for your pet.
Part of the lure of this annual event is that it generously supports the animals of our area. But Blocktail is also known for outstanding silent auction items that really do connect with the human audience on the front lawn of Mangiamo! each year.
If you
purchase a ticket online before June 6, each purchase will come with two drink tickets as a thank-you for planning ahead. http://www.bissellblocktailparty.com/bbtp/
Upgrades all around include the chance to have your pet bedazzled by the (self-appointed) King of Bling who brings what can best be described as frost decorative designs and jewels. In addition to the favorite pet portraits, you will have a chance to get your pet immortalized by ArtPrize Grand Prize winner Chris LaPorte, who will be creating caricatures of your pet while you sip and snack on food provided by Gilmore Collection restaurant Mangiamo!, Sweetie-licious, Twisted Rooster, Yesterdog, and others.
Just do not leave without your doggie bag as it always has nice treats for your pet, who will thank you with a year of goodness for taking them to such a fine event that is, as always, pet-friendly in every way.
