Fourth of July Celebration: Downtown lights up the night (on July 6 this year)

Saturday, July 6, 6:00 p.m.
Ah-Nab-Awen Park, Downtown Grand Rapids
There are many options for celebrating your Fourth of July holiday, but for locals, there is one clear favorite judging by the crowds that grow bigger and bigger each year: the annual Grand Rapids Fireworks presented by Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort.

Hosted on Saturday, July 6th (instead of Thursday, July 4th), Grand Rapids Fireworks is presented in 2019 by a new sponsor, the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort, and will feature many of the benefits folks have come to enjoy at our city’s annual family-friendly celebration.

This year’s celebratory event of America’s birthday kicks off at 6 p.m. on the grassy banks of Ah-Nab-Awen Park located just steps from downtown’s Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum. Folks often bring blankets and chairs to make a night of it.

This free event includes plenty of family-focused, fun activities as well as access to food trucks and merchandise vendors, but also hours of live entertainment until the main act of the night: an always fresh fireworks program starting at 10:30 p.m.

And while you have plenty of options of where to spend your fourth, those who want to extend the festivities in 2019 will be fortunate because of Saturday’s fireworks display.
