The Big Lebowski – The Dude Film of the X & Y Generation
When the Meanwhile Bar posted that it was adding The Big Lebowski to its summer line up, I began to draw up a list of folks who were dudes and not dudes. (On this list, a dude can be a lady.) The purpose of this list was to try to figure out who would be the best people to invite to attend this event with me.
Released years ago, most have only seen The Big Lebowski on DVD. But for one and one night only, the film that a generation worships is coming to the G, and the folks at the Meanwhile Bar and the Wealthy Theatre are throwing a huge bash to celebrate.
The film is built around the premise of a mistaken identity, a kidnapping, an artist who paints while suspended nude above a giant canvas, bowling and an attempt by the Dude to get restitution for a rug that was soiled by gangsters. Yes, the story is a comedy, so plan on putting papers down on your seat if this is your first time with “the Dude.”
Showing they are Dude-friendly, the Community Media Center is offering a special package deal for its members where they will be admitted free AND have bar privileges! They’ll even have Wii Bowling on the big screen so you and your other dudes can play prior the screening from 6-8 p.m. You can even sign up the night of the event.
If you haven’t joined CMC, yet what are you waiting for when the annual memberships start at $24 a year? Join CMC today for discounts to most theater events (including all Meanwhile Movies),bar privileges, special offers and more! Dude, Tuesday night is going to be huge!
Admission: $5 film admission only or sign up to take advantage of their 3 for Free Membership Special. See the Wealthy Theatre website for details.
