Spring Lake-based Hortech, Inc. recently announced the introduction of an innovative planted wall system, creating vertical green landscapes that protect buildings from heat and rain while reducing noise. It also makes a statement about an organization’s commitment to sustainability.

The new system, LiveWall, complements their 2006 introduction of LiveRoof, a living roof system. Amber Ponce, business development manager, says LiveWall is an easy-to-install product that has appeal to both the DIY market and the professional design build community throughout the world.  “Many roofs are not visible. With green walls, it provides an opportunity to showcase sustainability initiatives,” she says. “It’s a big deal. We have established a credible name in the green roof market with our living architecture. We are located in West Michigan, but are an international company with a  great reputation.”

Hortech’s two signature products do much more than help create living roof and wall systems. “With the introduction of  Live Roof in 2006, we have created about 12 non-seasonal jobs. With LiveWall, it has already created six new jobs, and that is just the beginning.” Ponce adds that these products have extended many seasonal jobs because of increased demand.

Ponce says the LiveWall is appealing to many different markets, from a homeowner moving to a condo and wanting to continue gardening, to restaurants, hospitals, intercity schools and corporations wanting to make a bold statement.
