MichBio Expo brings hundreds to GR, showcases city’s growing biotech industries
The second annual MichBio Expo brings life, and life sciences, to the city’s core with hundreds of high school students, scientists and medical manufacturers touring manufacturing facilities, laboratories, and incubation spaces that make up the city’s emerging biotech industry.
According to excerpts from the story:
When hundreds of scientists and entrepreneurs huddle here this week, they will tap the rapidly growing business of life.
In just the second annual MichBio Expo conference, 50 exhibitors from around the state will display medical and research products — from heart-catheter tubing to a medical tool-and-die shop.
The event is growing in other ways too, from two days to three.
“It’s a tremendous opportunity for West Michigan to host it,” said Ray DeWinkle, vice president of the local economic development agency The Right Place. “People who haven’t been to Grand Rapids in 10 years or so will see it and say, ‘Holy cow! This community has really changed.’ ”
