In the booming business of medical devices, a new alliance is forming between Atek Medical Manufacturing and Solectron Corp., a California electronics giant with $10 billion in sales.
Atek Medical, formerly Medtronics Cardiac Surgery, employs 245 and views the coalition with Solectron Corp.’s medical segment as a way to quickly tap a global market.
“Most of the large medical-device companies need both things: those that are electronic in nature, and the disposable type of devices,” said Christy Bieber Orris, chief executive of Atek Cos.
“We’re the first to come forward with this one-stop shop.”
