Could the Center of Downtown be Shifting? 38 Commerce Attracts Two New Tenants

Ameriprise Financial Services Inc. and Robert Half International have signed leases for offices at 38 Commerce, completing all of the space available on the third floor of the building.

Ameriprise Financial Services Inc. is relocating from the suburbs October 1 and will encompass 2,700 square feet of the third floor. Kevin Toler, a financial advisor with the organization who works on the finances and investments of families and institutions with a specialization in the health care industry and private, family-owned businesses, is excited for the transition.

“The move to downtown Grand Rapids from our current office in Ada underscores our commitment to providing the highest level of service for our private wealth clients while enhancing the ability to attract and retain top notch talent,” explains Toler. “The city center is a great place to live and work, making it an attractive location from which to continue to build our multi-generational workforce.”

Toler praises the building's capacity for efficiency and enhanced productivity. “The unique parking garage arrangement allows our clients to park and walk immediately into the office while the downtown location keeps us close to other local professionals we network with to serve all of our client needs," he says.

Robert Half International, a professional staffing company is moving from the Bridgewater building on the north side of the downtown area. They will inhabit the remaining 3,500 square feet of office space later in October.

“We continue to see a major shift south of Fulton as companies like Robert Half, Ameriprise and Deloitte see the value in relocating their employees to 38, which is nestled within a vibrant and diverse section of downtown,” says Locus Development partner John Green.
