The last time I saw Elton John, it was just him and the piano at the Van Andel. While it was a good show, I really wanted to see him rock out to a full band.
So you can imagine my excitement when it was announced that Saturday's show would include a full band performing a set rumored to be well over three hours!
When the show takes off with an energetic "Funeral For a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding," you better get buckled in for a show that is sure to be unlike any other he has performed in years.
Elton is back, full of life and racing around the stage in rare form performing favorites like "Philadelphia Freedom, Honkey Cat" and "The Bitch Is Back."
This concert is a rare chance that parents can take their kids to a show and say: "See, mommy didn't have bad taste in music in the 70s."
Honestly, what other acts from today really will have the staying power of this living legend of music, who is still creating meaningful music as he enters his fifth decade in the biz.
Admission: $39, $89 & $139 (While this show is technically sold out, tickets can be procured on line through various ticket sources.)
