Leslie and the Ly's: Pants-Free Zone Ahead

Saturday, Feb. 8, 8 p.m. (doors)
I probably could make a case for why one should book a hotel in downtown Grand Rapids starting Thursday – Sunday based solely on the impressive run of shows at The Pyramid Scheme this weekend. It starts with The Coup, Bangups, and A.B.! on Thursday, followed by Friday's debut of the Super Happy Funtime Burlesque's newest production Winter Sucks. On Saturda, it's Leslie and the Ly’s stop in GR followed by The Scheme's monthly Sunday Pinball Tournament.  It is possible but space will not allow. – I don't understand this sentence.

But if you have to pick just one, my money is on Saturday's return of Leslie and the Ly's to this popular downtown venue for their third stop and as a part of their No Pants Policy tour that is not only turning heads but challenging the fashion police laws everywhere they perform.

It is hard to imagine that hip hop has this much room to include the musical stylings of lead singer and Iowa resident Leslie Hall, who no doubt crammed her way into hip hop's hallowed and often very serious walls like she does in her tighter-than-skin gold lame' outfits.

And she is huge in every way, from her size-16 command of the audience to a stage show full of antics. There will be bouncy tunes as well as a set of dancers who will not only be encouraging you to remove your pants but will probably be requiring you to do so at one point, as Grand Rapids has truly adopted a nice following willing to do whatever Hall commands in her quest for world domination. (Seriously, this is Hall's goal once she activates her tight pants, leaving behind her offstage persona as one of Iowa's best coupon clipping queens.)

If you have never witnessed Leslie and the Ly's live, then really…. what are you waiting for? Buy your tickets and join the party, Wig-wiggy-wiggy-wiggy-wiggy-wack!  See their new video No Pants Policy on YouTube.
