With December dropping tons of snow on us on the first day of the month, we honestly are not shocked if you all you want to do is curl up on the couch and wait for spring to return. (We understand.)
But that would be a mistake as the winter season in the city is often the hottest for entertainment options. Happening at Eastown’s iconic music venue/neighborhood bar Billy’s Lounge on Sunday, December 8th, the West Michigan Blues Society’s annual Holiday Party promises to be hotter than ever.
Our West Michigan Blues Society (WMBS) seeks to promote and preserve the appreciation of blues music and on Sunday afternoon for the small fee of $7 (or $5 with your WMBS Membership) you will get to hear four great blues acts while enjoying BBQ by Chef Cal and a chance to win some cash at their 50/50 raffle.
Scheduled to perform this year are these blues acts: King Biscuit Trio,
The Fast Hands Band, Hansen's House Rockers, and
Kathleen and the Bridge Street Band.
And speaking of membership, if you are a member you will also be able to save 15 percent off your tab at Billy’s Lounge, according to the WMBS’ website.
In addition to the Billy’s Lounge benefit, which is worth the price in my opinion, a membership also includes other offers at area businesses including, Big O's Cafe, The Corner Record Shop, Vertigo Music, Tip Top Deluxe, and Southtown Guitar. (See website for all the offers.)
WMBS is also offering a new membership category level just for bands, too. Please check out their membership site for an
online application whose community-building membership is keeping our blues music scene alive and hot here in West Michigan.
