Rear camera technology could be mandatory in U.S. vehicles by 2014, a move that fits perfectly with systems developed by Gentex Corp.
In safety regulations proposed Friday, the U.S. Department of Transportation said the rear-mounted cameras, with a video display inside the vehicle, is the best system to show the blind spot behind vehicles. The rule is called the Cameron Gulbransen Kids Transportation Safety Act of 2007.
