Lately, Muskegon is a hotbed of activity surrounding casino proposals and their related promises of job growth and influx of money. One such proposal is the first to purchase what could be a prime piece of property for a proposed new entertainment district.

According to excerpts from the story:

The Little River Band of Ottawa Indians now owns Great Lakes Downs, though what the tribe will ultimately make of it, and when, is anybody’s guess.

“Nothing’s been ruled out yet — anything’s possible,” Robert Memberto, the tribe’s director of commerce, said during a news conference at the track clubhouse near the junction of I-96 and U.S. 31 Wednesday afternoon.

Having said that, Memberto made it clear the tribe’s primary goal is to build a Class 3 casino, augmenting one it operates just outside Manistee.
