Michigan's Adventure plans state's only suspended looping roller coaster

Fast and tall, with an 86-foot drop and seats that swing out from the track as the coaster loops the rails; the coaster Michigan's largest theme park plans to add will draw riders and tourism bucks to Muskegon. When the park opens next year, it will have over 60 rides and attractions.

MUSKEGON — Michigan's Adventure Amusement Park plans to build the first suspended looping roller coaster in the state.

The new ride will be Michigan Adventure's seventh roller coaster when the park reopens in the spring.

Named Thunderhawk, the steel coaster will climb 105 feet in the air with an 86-foot drop. Riders will soar through the air along a winding course that will feature five inversions and a top speed of 50 mph.
