Lakeshore airport granted new 25-year lease, plans service improvements

One of the few airports along the lakeshore has been given a new longterm lease, and the operators of the facility say they are looking to make improvements to the air services and to invest over $50,000 to jumpstart the airport’s new five year plan.

According to excerpts from the story:

After more than three years of work, a new lease for the Park Township Airport will be in place soon.

The township board approved the 25-year lease last week by a vote of 5-2, said Stu Visser, township supervisor. The current lease runs out in 2012.

The private group that operates the airport at Ottawa Beach Road and 152nd Avenue will have its attorneys review the lease before making the agreement official, said Dave Siegers of Ottawa Aviation.

“We are elated about this airport lease being approved,” he said. “There is now a future for that airport.”
