Holland armory transforms into historic boat museum

With famous names like Arrowhead and Chris Craft, the Holland Museum is betting the renovation of the former National Guard Armory is the perfect location to showcase a collection of historic boats and the area's boat manufacturing heritage.

By next year, the history of boat manufacturing in Holland will be on display where National Guard units once drilled.

Construction on theformer National Guard Armory's drill hall is under way. Workers are installing new heating and cooling systems and insulating the roof. Insulation will go on top of the existing roof and a new asphalt roof installed over that to maintain the look of steel trusses in the ceiling, museum President Joel Lefever said.
