Finding a lucrative outlet for one’s art is a challenge for all artists, and one West Michigan painter accidentally discovered a niche market that’s paying off. Now she’s attracted the attention of a national magazine.

ROBINSON TOWNSHIP — Sometimes Mary Sundstrom closes her eyes and takes her classic Airstream trailer on long trips to mountains and deserts, and even as far as the bottom of the ocean or deep into outer space.

In reality, her trailer sits on her Robinson Township property — while Sundstrom lets her imagination do the work, painting it in exotic locations to sell to Airstream enthusiasts across the country.
