Hot tunes make up debut CD of Grand Rapids’ popular Blues on the Mall performances

After 17 years of free summer concerts in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids, Blues on the Mall sponsors have released the debut CD of live performances. The popular concert series draws thousands to the city’s core each week throughout the summer.

According to excerpts from the story:

It's appropriate that WLAV-FM (96.9) opens its first live Blues on the Mall CD with a gritty, impressive performance of the song "Slow It Down" by Texas-based singer-guitarist Mike Zito. After all, not only did Zito kick off last year's popular Wednesday night series, but he'll do the same thing again this summer based on the 2009 lineup announced by the radio station a few days ago.

More important, the musicianship and passionate singing (reminiscent of Jonny Lang) demonstrated on the opening track aptly represent the quality of acts and performances this free outdoor series has delivered over the past 17 years.
