A long struggle for a new site plan to make a waterside eatery more conducive to attracting customers who’d like to dine or have a cocktail and then stroll along Holland’s boardwalk has ended up with a prime opportunity for the restaurant to attract customers.

By summer, Boatwerks patrons should be able to enter the restaurant building itself or choose to follow a new sidewalk trail and be greeted by a hostess and an outdoor bar.
The new 22-foot bar will give wait staff another way to serve outdoor patrons, Boatwerks operating partner Chris Hart said. An expanded women's restroom with outdoor access would also be added.
The poor flow of wait staff to and from the existing beverage station and of customers to and from the restrooms was one of the first things Hart noticed when he came on board, he said.
