Attracting retail business to Grand Rapids’ core is high on the priority list of the Downtown Development Authority as they seek was to support existing retail and other businesses downtown while enticing others to set up shop. A consultant was recently hired to lead a four-month pilot program.

The Downtown Development Authority agreed last week to begin a four-month pilot program to support retailers in the district and hopefully draw more of these business owners to downtown.

Board members gave DDA Executive Director Jay Fowler the green light to hire Anne Marie Bessette to direct the new effort..
