Growth in manufacturing along the lakeshore is pushing back on the negative news about Michigan’s economy, saying things aren’t as bad as they seem. The expansion and development of two large manufacturers would seem to prove that jobs and business along the lakeshore are in a growth mode.

NORTON SHORES – The manufacturing sector is alive and well along the Lake Michigan shoreline in Norton Shores. Integricoat Inc. has built a new manufacturing facility. Plans for another, to be built for Ground Heaters Inc. have received planning commission approval. But the latter is far from a done deal.
A spokesman for Wacker Construction Equipment AG, the parent company of Ground Heaters, told MiBiz that the company’s board of directors probably won’t make a final decision on where to build a facility that could be as large as 495,000 square feet until mid-June.
