In an age when instant communication is part of everyday life, the largest fiber optic communication system in Michigan now connects Muskegon County’s fire departments, police dispatchers, over a dozen school systems, hospitals, and more. The possibilities for connectivity are limited only by the electronics that power them.

The new Shoreline Fiber Network linking schools, fire and police departments and county government operations in Muskegon County will provide unlimited high-speed Internet broadband capacity for years to come.
After more than four years in development, the network is now complete, according to Muskegon County Information Systems Manager Eduardo Bedoya. A community gathering at the Muskegon Area Intermediate School District (MAISD) building took place June 26 to celebrate the opening of the operating fiber optic network.
The massive education, public safety and government project is now the largest in Michigan.
