The Grand Rapids School Board has given a proposed school of fine arts its stamp of approval, moving the creation of the educational facility closer to its September opening and enabling the new owners of the former Catholic Diocesan offices to move ahead with renovation plans.

The Grand Rapids Public Schools Board had few questions and plenty of praise Tuesday night for the plan by the Rev. Marvin and MaLinda Sapp to convert the former Grand Rapids Catholic Diocese headquarters into a fine arts middle and high school.
