Grand Rapids hosts first-ever residential ‘green’ conference

West Michigan leads the country with the highest number of green buildings per capita. That interest, now leaking over into residential construction, will draw 5,000 builders, homeowners, realtors and remodelers from across the state to downtown Grand Rapids this weekend.

As green building and living has grown in popularity in Michigan, a new conference designed to bring builders, vendors and consumers together launches Thursday in Grand Rapids.

The DeVos Place convention center will host the state's first Great Lakes Green conference and exhibition. Events on Thursday and Friday are focused on builder topics and those on Saturday cater to homeowners and consumers interested in green products and services.
