The boards of directors for Zeeland Community Hospital and the Grand Rapids-based Spectrum Health System have each approved resolutions that would merge the two health care systems.
Based on the resolutions, the Zeeland hospital will become a Spectrum Health System hospital, effective Jan. 1. Specific terms of the agreement are being kept confidential.
"Spectrum Health has had a long-standing relationship with Zeeland Community Hospital for more than a decade," said Matt Van Vranken, executive vice president of Spectrum Health and president of Spectrum Health Hospital Group. "This agreement takes that relationship to a new level by integrating Zeeland into Spectrum Health and will enable us to provide a broader, more coordinated array of services to the region."
