If the local experts are on track with their predictions that downtown Grand Rapids could pull in $100 million in convention business over the next eight years, more hotel rooms are needed in the city’s core to accommodate the traffic. One company is ready to build that hotel in the North Monroe business district.
According to excerpts from the story:
The owners of two Holiday Inn Express hotels and one Hampton Inn plan to build a hotel on the site of the former Western American Mailers building on the north side of downtown Grand Rapids.
Hotel Holdings Monroe LLC (d.b.a. Suburban Inns) plans to tear down the building, which has been vacant since 2004, and build a 250-room hotel, according to Suburban Inns President Brian Beukema.
