The head of one of West Michigan’s leading alternative energy centers
recently announced he will step down to pursue his own interests in
developing alternative energy enterprises.
According to excerpts from the story:
MUSKEGON -- Grand Valley State
University announced on Friday that the director of its alternative
energy center in Muskegon is stepping down, though he will remain as a
consultant. Imad Mahawili has been director of the Michigan Alternative
and Renewable Energy Center since it opened in 2003. He will leave his
post on April 1.
While at MAREC, Mahawili
led an effort to turn waste into energy at the sprawling den Dulk Dairy
Farm in Ravenna and designed a home energy wind turbine that will be
produced by local companies EarthTronics and Port City Group and soon
be sold to consumers. By being freed from his administrative duties at
MAREC, Mahawili will have more time to focus on alternative and
renewable energy projects, according to the university.
