Today's employers demand workers who have extensive computer skills and experience, and Muskegon Schools is answering that demand with new computers, infrastructure upgrades, and fast Internet access. Business, technology, and careers classes will be taught on state-of-the-art technology, and that has teachers and students excited.
According to excerpts from the story:
Podcasting, virtual field trips and blogging all will become a lot easier in Muskegon classrooms with a $1.8 million project to upgrade technology.
A $1.37 million federal grant will pay for most of the project that will update infrastructure and create higher bandwidth in classrooms at all the district's school buildings.
Sandra Boone, a business, technology and career teacher at Muskegon High School, said she's excited to use the new technology to begin blogging with her students. She said it also will allow for better use of class time since student activities such as conducting Internet research or producing PowerPoint presentations currently are painstakingly slow.
