Muskegon park improvements estimated at $578K

With rehab projects going on all over town and green space needed to attract business and residents, the City of Muskegon seeks to upgrade a busy park. Grant monies from the DNR may pay for most of the proposed improvements, with the rest coming from the city's budget.

According to excerpts from the story:

Smith-Ryerson Playfield is being targeted as the city of Muskegon's next big park refurbishing project.

Located east of Wood Street along Ryerson Creek, the playfield would receive a large picnic shelter with two grills and 32 picnic tables, a new handicapped-accessible restroom with concession stand, reconstruction of the basketball courts with concrete resurfacing, new poles, backboards and rims and a timed lighting system, and a set of aluminum bleachers. An existing restroom would be rehabilitated for use as a storage building.
