Ottawa County Court House under budget with expected early finish

Centralizing all the services needed for two busy legal courts is a big reason for constructing a massive new courthouse in Grand Haven. That project will come in under budget and well before deadline.

GRAND HAVEN -- When she arrives at her job as postmaster of the Grand Haven post office every morning, Barbara Kiehborth sees progress taking shape one block to the east.

"It's definitely coming together," Kiehborth said of the new Ottawa County courthouse under construction. "It's a beautiful building. They've made a lot of progress. "(When) I take a couple of days off, and I can see the difference when I come back."

Kiehborth isn't the only one who notices the change to downtown Grand Haven's skyline. County officials said construction on the 117,500-square-foot, four-story building, which started in summer 2007, is about two months ahead of schedule and is expected to come in under budget.
