As Michigan struggles to develop jobs and keep businesses in the black, one Muskegon organization has consistently showed manufacturers how to sell products and services to the federal government, and that work has paid off.
According to excerpts from the story:
Two federal audits -- one financial, the other for performance -- apparently convinced the U.S. Department of Defense to fund Muskegon Area First's Procurement Technical Assistance Center this year. The federal action ends a 10-month battle between the Muskegon-based PTAC and the Michigan Economic Development Corp.
"We are thrilled. We earned this," said Pamela Vanderlaan-Poort, the Muskegon PTAC's director for 20 years.
