A company that hoped to carve out a lead in the burgeoning market for radio frequency identification (RFID) tags was sold to a powerhouse in the label industry.
Avery Dennison purchased RF Identics LLC, a firm launched in 2005 by former Siemens Dematic executives Pete Metros and Gary Burns as well as Peter Phaneuf, an executive for a local technology firm.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Stan Drobac, vice president of RFID strategy for Avery Dennison, said the price was less than 15 million.
