After several years of debate, a citizen task force charged with improving public transportation agreed on the route for the first leg of Grand Rapids modern streetcar system. The route will basically run on Monroe Avenue from the Sixth Street Bridge to Rapid Central Station.

Getting around downtown Grand Rapids could get easier in the next few years. The Rapid partnership is looking at adding a streetcar. It would start at the Rapid's Central Station, head west to Market, along Monroe to Sixth Street.
