Boxing gym brings health and fitness business to West Side

With fitness on many people’s mind today, having a facility easily accessible to downtown workers and residents is an important asset. With a focus on teaching the physical benefits of a boxer’s technique, this west side gym is benefiting men and women across the city.

According to excerpts from the story:

Frank Perez, 53, has participated in the world of boxing within the city of Grand Rapids for nearly 35 years. He has taught martial arts, fought in Golden Gloves alongside other hometown Golden Gloves fighters like City Commissioner Roy Schmidt, and he has trained fighters for the Golden Gloves competition.

But for the past 10 years Perez has focused on teaching the physical benefits of boxing and a boxer’s workout as fitness technique that can work for anybody.

Now Perez has moved to the West Side, relocating his gym at 445 Bridge St.

“I wanted to do something different,” said Perez.

He knew there wasn’t anywhere outside the Golden Gloves gyms where people from all walks of life could work out.
