Report: IT managers in hiring mood

A survey of 500 senior information technology managers in West Michigan by Holland-based tech recruiting firm Paragon Recruiting, found that 33 percent of firms plan to do hiring in the next six months.

It also found that 64 percent of firms are holding steady on staffing levels and only 3 percent are cutting. The hiring percentage is slightly lower than in 2005, but higher than 2003 and 2004.

Of those decreasing staff, all were in the manufacturing sector. The biggest hiring group are schools or universities, where 71 percent said they would be hiring in next six months.

Companies with 251-500 employees are planning to do the most hiring, according to the survey.
