New Meijer Supercenter planned for Plainfield Business Corridor

Streetscape beautification is high on the list of improvements under review for the Plainfield Business Corridor. A new, redesigned Meijer Supercenter will help move that vision forward.

Meijer Inc. plans to build a new supercenter at 3757 Plainfield Ave. NE.

Project engineer Lee Vander Meulen said the Walker-based retailer plans to replace the 193,000 square-foot store that currently sits on the 25-acre site on Plainfield Avenue NE with a new 191,500 square-foot supercenter.

Plans for the site also call for Meijer to tear down an outlet store.

“Basically, Meijer is proposing a complete redevelopment of the site, except for the gas station,” Vander Meulen said.
