With the Grand River running through it, it hosts some of the city's largest parks and longest bike trails. The northeast side also contains the booming Medical Mile life sciences corridor, historic schools and residential districts, modern offices, and thriving urban loft spaces with unique entertainment options. It includes several strong neighborhood associations, including Belknap, Monroe North, and Creston-Cheshire.

Because of her passion for domestic violence awareness and human trafficking victims, owner Reagan Reynolds enlisted a local counselor who focuses on trauma victims, Susan Powers, to help her develop a training curriculum for her staff.

New developments take a small stab at affordable housing crisis

In October, the Grand Rapids’ City Commission took action to advance plans for three proposed affordable housing developments, which will create 151 units: Garfield Park Lofts, developed by LINC Up Nonprofit Housing Corporation; Plaza Roosevelt, a Habitat for Humanity of Kent County project; and Inner City Christian Federation’s Eastern Elementary School renovation.
