American Seating replaces 12,000 damaged seats in Superdome

American Seating seats have been part of the Superdome since it opened in 1975. After Hurricane Katrina wreaked havoc, the Grand Rapids company was once again called upon, this time to replace thousands of damaged seats before the stadium’s reopening.

According to excerpts from the story:

After Hurricane Katrina swamped New Orleans, thousands of residents of the beleaguered city took shelter in the Louisiana Superdome.

The 70,000 seats in the stadium, home of the NFL’s New Orleans Saints, were used as beds after the August 2006 storm and the Superdome became a symbol of the city’s suffering and government ineptitude.

On Monday night, they came back. This time, it was to watch the return of the Saints.

And Grand Rapids-based American Seating Co. helped make it happen.
